PastryBase Introduction Part 1

Hello, friends!  PastryBase Custom Bakery has been very busy working on an exciting NEW project which we are almost ready to launch!  

I want to invite you to an exclusive preview of what we've been up to, but before I do, I'd like to tell you a little bit more about myself.  

Here goes!

My name is Jill, and baking isn't just a hobby for me; I've been obsessed with food and pastry for as long as I can remember.  Pretty much every job I've ever held has been in the food/hospitality industry...from Caterer to Restaurant Manager to Pastry Chef...I've gotten to work at some amazing establishments with even more amazing people over the last 15 years.  I got a degree in Business at the University of Miami (Go Canes!) and studied Pastry Arts at L'Academie de Cuisine while living in the Washington, DC area.  But the most meaningful lessons learned have been at the hands of the people who put their heart and soul into their food on a daily basis.  I've gotten to apprentice under some amazing chefs at James Beard Award winning establishments, and had the honor of working with people who want nothing more than for you to truly enjoy their food.  

Along the way, I've also discovered why baking is so important to me and many others.  Food, especially dessert, can be representative of strong memories with family and friends, reminding us of celebrations, special occasions, and everyday triumphs.  

This is a unifying concept, something we can all share...food communicates love!  

I decided to spread love by offering custom cakes, tarts, and other desserts through my bakery, PastryBase here in Virginia Beach.  I have treasured being a part of many of your special occasions, first birthdays, weddings, and other celebrations.  It is so enjoyable for me, and I know many of you love to bake too...or at least love the idea of it!  So I wondered...how can I really spread the love? 


This brings me to our exciting new project!!
